Green Facades

A green facade is a wall partially or completely covered with vegetation that includes a growing medium, such as soil. Most green walls also feature an integrated water delivery system. Green facades are also known as green walls,  biowalls, ecowalls, or vertical gardens. A great combination of ecology and architecture.

Life cycle

The BIOFIVER module allows a wide exposure of the rhizosphere and the substrate to urban air pollution. There is a perfect symbiosis between plants and microorganisms. Different kinds of microorganisms, who live in the rhizosphere, extract from the air the substances pollutants they need to live. Products excreted by these bacterias are directly absorbed by plants, who also maintain the rhizosphere with an ideal moisture degree.


Several studies have shown that most of the microorganisms associated with the area around the rhizosphere , are capable of capturing substances in the air that are harmful to humans , turning them into harmless ones or at least useful for other organisms. In the past, it was considered that the effective area of this process was the aerial part of the plants. Recent researchs, certify the potential of microorganisms in their ability to assimilate large variety of substances.
